The University of Western Australia is the only Australian university that offers a combined PhD and Master's degree in Audiology that can be completed over four years. Audiology is the clinical science involving the prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of hearing loss and associated communication disorders.
Students completing this combined course obtain both a Master of Clinical Audiology degree and a PhD degree. Students undertake most of the formal coursework and assessment for the Master of Clinical Audiology program in addition to undertaking a major research project towards their PhD. Students are provided with opportunities for extensive supervised clinical placements in a variety of workplace settings.

Career Pathways
Many audiologists are involved in research, helping to develop new behavioural and electrophysiological test techniques, cochlear implants, hearing aids and hearing health therapies. Some audiologists work in community and workplace settings including programs aimed at reducing the prevalence and impact of middle ear disease in rural and remote aboriginal communities, newborn hearing screening programs and hearing conservation programs in industry. Employment prospects for Audiologists who graduate from UWA are excellent, both within Australia and overseas.

(1) To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have鈥� (a) an honours degree of at least 2A level, or a qualification recognised as equivalent by the Board of the Graduate Research School (the Board) and the Faculty; and (b) satisfied the requirements of Doctor of Philosophy Rule 2; (2) A current National Police Certificate, National Criminal History Check or equivalent certification from country of residence, indicating no criminal conviction. The currency of a National Police Certificate or a National Criminal History Check is 12 months.
English language requirements:
TOEFL (paper-based): 570 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of no less than 4.5
IBT TOEFL (Internet-based test score): 82 with 22 for writing, 20 for speaking, 20 for listening, and 18 for reading
IELTS (Academic): overall score of at least 7.0 and no band less than 7.0
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: C pass
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: B grade
Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic): Overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 64 in the Reading and Writing sections, 59 in the Speaking section and 54 in the Listening section
