Since 1991 International Development Studies (IDS) at Guelph has successfully linked with various discipline based Master’s programs on campus to provide a focal point for graduate teaching and research on international development topics. The IDS program adds a specialization in International Development Studies onto a Master’s program providing students with extra flexibility in the job market.

Students wishing to pursue a Master's degree with the designation "International Development Studies" must enter the collaborative specialization in International Development through a participating program.
Students must meet the University's general requirement a four-year honour's degree, or equivalent, from a recognized post-secondary institution with a B- average over the last two years of full-time equivalent study. Note that some programs set their admission requirement higher than B-.
Students must have completed the following:
One undergraduate course in economics.
One undergraduate course in a social science discipline
One course in social science research methods or equivalent.

International English Language Testing System (Academic) (IELTS) - 6.5
Duolingo English Test (DET) - 120
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A) Note: A minimum score of 60 must be achieved in each individual component - 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT)) Note: A minimum score of 21 must be achieved in each of the four categories (listening, speaking, reading, writing) – 89
