Economics analyzes the behavior of consumption, production, exchange, and their interactions with each other in domestic and global settings. Through the study of economics, students acquire modern analytical, empirical, and quantitative skills, and enhance their communicative skills鈥攖he requisite abilities to effectively understand and analyze economic problems and issues of today. Our major provides rigorous training that equips students with the requisite knowledge and skills to understand economic problems and analyze policy issues from local and global perspectives.
The major in Economics of SME, CUHK-Shenzhen is committed to integrating disciplines, academic and research, as well as Chinese and Western education to provide comprehensive and cutting-edge teaching and training based on elementary, intermediate and advanced macroeconomics and microeconomics, including a variety of specialized courses such as machine learning and big data analysis in line with social development, as well as guided research and honorary thesis for students who are interested in economics research. The major will lay a solid foundation of theories and thinking methods for students, and equip them with independent critical thinking, and ability to make innovations and humanistic quality.
The major in Economics provides two streams for undergraduates: Business Economics and Economic Science. Business Economics enables students to have a more comprehensive and thorough understanding of today' s major business operation models across the world, so as to prepare them for their future work in global business with a solid foundation.
