The curriculum is designed to seek maximum exemption or full recognition from international professional accounting bodies, such as the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants(HKICPA), Certified Practising Accountant of Australia (CPA Australia) and Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants(CICPA).

Professional Accountancy of SME, CUHK-Shenzhen is one of the first undergraduate majors in Asia to offer accounting data analytics, with domestically leading teaching standard and full recognition from groups of international accounting professionals.

The major is designed to provide students with a firm foundation in accounting. In addition to technical accounting/business knowledge, the major focuses on training leadership skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and interpersonal and communication skills. Professionalism, ethics and information technology are integrated throughout the curriculum.

The major is committed to cultivating versatile talents with proficiency in traditional accounting and financial knowledge, understanding of business logics and capital markets and strong capabilities of data collection, summary and analysis. With Chinese and Western education combined, the curriculum integrates fundamentals of accounting with emerging technologies taught by a team of international and young faculty. The team of young faculty adept at cutting-edge research will apply their research in the education to help students master the latest knowledge and skills in Line with social development.
