This accelerated radiography training programme has been developed to allow graduates from a wide variety of academic backgrounds to study with us. The content of the accelerated radiography programme supports a robust learning of basic sciences and incorporates a wide range of radiography training that has been developed with respect to requirements for radiography training as published by CORU, the Health and Social Care Professions Regulator, and by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy.

The content of the accelerated radiography programme supports a robust learning of basic sciences and incorporates a wide range of radiography training that has been developed with respect to requirements for radiography training as published by CORU, the Health and Social Care Professions Regulator, and by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy.
Students will be taught by our dedicated team of over 25 lecturers and clinical training will be enhanced by the inclusion of our new ‘state of the art’ virtual reality training equipment and our X-ray suite facilities on site, in UCD.
International Study Opportunities
There will be the possibility for students to undertake international elective opportunities at various stages during the programme.
Career & Graduate Study Opportunities
Diagnostic imaging is a growth area in Ireland and internationally. Over the past five years, all graduates of this programme have obtained employment as radiographers. As well as the traditional hospital-based career, some radiographers are employed as imaging equipment applications or sales specialists.
An increasing number of graduates are now undertaking PhD studies. Diagnostic imaging offers successful graduates exciting opportunities to pursue research and/or to develop specialist clinical skills in their chosen area(s) of imaging.

The 2.5-year graduate entry programme is open to applicants who hold an NFQ Level 8 degree at the minimum award level of 2.2 or equivalent, which includes research activity (module / thesis) to a minimum of 5 ECTS. Applicants are also required to have a Science subject at minimum level Irish Leaving Certificate O6, IB Standard Level 4, GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
IELTS - An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version;
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (iBT) with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section;
English language examinations administered by the University of Cambridge: 176+ on Cambridge English scale (with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English), Acceptable Examinations:
Proficiency Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2).
Advanced Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2)
First Certificate, Grade A (i.e. CEFR Level C1)
Pearson English Language Text: Minimum of 63 and at least 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section.
Duolingo English Test (DET) - The minimum requirement will be a DET score of 110 is required with at least 100 in each sub score. This test of English will be reviewed during 2021 and a decision taken as to whether it should continue to be acceptable.
