You鈥檒l explore the role sport, exercise and healthy living play in addressing global challenges, and will be able to create sustainable solutions to improve the wellbeing of people and communities. Our courses honour m膩tauranga M膩ori and Te Tiriti O Waitangi, and will help you develop a sound understanding of sport, movement and exercise science.

Because this is a highly flexible degree, you can even complement sport with other subjects you鈥檙e passionate about, from event management to journalism.

You can build your degree in a way that suits you and your interests, and include subjects from outside of sport as part of your studies.

Your major is the subject area you want to specialise in. It makes up one third of your degree, and usually consists of eight courses related to your chosen subject.

Sport and Exercise Science Major - Bachelor of Sport, Exercise and Health

Study sport and exercise science to unlock peak athletic performance and revolutionise training methods, using biomechanics, physiology and health assessments.

Within this major you鈥檒l explore four themes: strength and conditioning, performance analysis, biomechanics and exercise physiology. You鈥檒l learn how to assess a person鈥檚 or team鈥檚 performance and needs, and will be able to prescribe appropriate exercise programmes.

This major has a strong connection to the AUT Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ), which is globally known for its exercise science research, and our graduates go on to a range of exciting careers.
