The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is a one-year, research-only master鈥檚 degree. It's a great opportunity to explore a research topic of an applied or professional nature, under the supervision of AUT's expert academic staff.
The Master of Philosophy enables you to expand your research capabilities by focusing on a particular area of interest. It can provide a pathway to more advanced research at doctoral level.

What you study
You complete an original thesis during this year of study.
AUT staff are available to supervise MPhil research on a wide range of topics.
From 2025, this programme starts on the first Monday of the intake month.

English Language Requirements:
IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; AUT Academic English with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
