A focussed postgraduate programme to enhance your knowledge and skills in Civil Engineering.
Programme overview
Civil Engineers are responsible for the design and construction of infrastructure like buildings, transportation systems, water and wastewater facilities, ports, bridges and urban environments. This programme will teach you discipline-specific knowledge that will enable you to solve problems and improve people's standard of living.
The PGCertCivilEng upskills students for employment as civil engineers and serves as a flexible qualification for students who do not wish to commit to a full masters or diploma. Graduates meeting the appropriate entry standards may proceed to masters study.
Programme structure
The PGCertCivilEng will be offered in a 60 point pathway with both full-time and part-time options available.
ENVENG 702 Engineering Decision Making in Aotearoa (Level 9)
ENGGEN 730 Professional Skills (Level 8)
ENGGEN 742 Project Management (Level 8)
Students will take a further 30 points from the general list of electives for the unendorsed MCivilEng degree. They will not have the option to undertake a research project.

The PGCertCivilEng aims to provide graduates with knowledge, skills and competencies aligned to the roles and responsibilities of Civil Engineers who design, construct, and deliver physical infrastructure systems, but with a more narrow focus and a curriculum comprising of 60 points. The programme upskills students for practice as a Civil Engineer, and serves as a flexible qualification for students who do not wish to commit to a full masters or diploma. Graduates meeting the appropriate entry standards may proceed to Masters study.

You must have completed an engineering degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as applied science or technology. Your study must have been at a recognised university (or similar institution) and you will need a GPE of 3.0
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
