Overview

Please note that this programme will be open for applications on King's Apply from mid-March 2022. Qualified nurses provide, lead and coordinate care, and high-quality nursing care is key to the success of patient recovery. Having the right mix of knowledge and skills is therefore hugely important to ensure the people you care for have positive clinical outcomes. The Clinical Nursing MSc course is designed to help qualified healthcare practitioners further develop the knowledge and skills to research, manage and deliver healthcare practice and education. This course is delivered in a hybrid way, with both online delivery and the opportunity for some optional modules to be taken on campus if you wish.

Course details

You will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars and self-study. Contact time is based on 24 academic weeks, whereas self-study time is based on 31 academic weeks. Typically, one credit equates to ten hours of work. We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment.

Teaching and assessment

Your performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written/practical examinations. Forms of assessment may typically include written assignments such as essays and portfolios. The study time and assessment methods detailed above are typical and give you a good indication of what to expect. However, they may change if the course modules change.

Career prospects

Many of our graduates go on to work in specialised and autonomous roles in clinical practice and research, including work in a variety of clinical care settings, hospitals and the community. Other areas of employment include educational roles in clinical and university settings, as well as roles in governmental departments developing policy and legislative initiatives. Some graduates choose to go on to follow MPhil/PhD pathways.
