The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) track is for those who have completed a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in another field, serving as a medic or corpsman in US military or hold an active LPN license from a regionally accredited institution. The complexity of health care systems today demands an increased focus on improving outcomes with knowledge of evidence-based nursing interventions. A BSN-prepared nurse is innovative in health care delivery with knowledge in interprofessional practice, leadership and bedside expertise.
IMPORTANT: This rigorous program allows students to complete all didactic course work fully online, but requires weekly in-person clinical and labs on the University of Kentucky campus.

The full number of credit hours that are required to earn a bachelors degree is 120. Required credits will vary based on previous credits earned by a student.

Second-degree Applicants

Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for second-degree and MedVet applicants; cumulative GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale for LPN applicants. Science GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for second-degree and MedVet applicants; science GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale for LPN applicants.

Completion of Army Medical Specialist (68W), Navy Corpsman or Air Force Medical Specialist training

Completion of LPN from a regionally accredited institution and a current active license to practice
