What you will study
Coursework for UCM鈥檚 Athletic Training master鈥檚 degree begins on our Warrensburg campus. Our small class sizes allow for interaction with other AT graduate students with diverse backgrounds.

The path to your master鈥檚 degree in Athletic Training
Whether your undergraduate degree is in Kinesiology or another field of study, you can expect to complete UCM鈥檚 Athletic Training master鈥檚 degree program in two years.
The Master of Science degree in Athletic Training is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) to ensure your eligibility for the BOC exam. With guidance from UCM鈥檚 program steering committee, including current students, we continue to ensure we鈥檙e meeting high industry standards and student needs to prepare you for your athletic trainer career. Topics you may study include:
Emergency care
Orthopedics assessment
Therapeutic intervention
You鈥檒l also get hands-on experience in four clinical practicum courses and an internship in athletic training. The goal is to teach you evidence-based practices that improve patient outcomes and keep people safe.
What can you do with a master鈥檚 degree in Athletic Training from UCM?
Because of UCM鈥檚 CAATE accreditation, you will be eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Graduates are also eligible to take the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) exam, if you鈥檙e interested in becoming a registered orthopedic technologist.
When you successfully pass either exam and are in compliance with state regulations, you鈥檒l be ready to embark on an exciting career in athletic training and sports medicine. Graduates with a master鈥檚 degree in Athletic Training may choose to work with athletes at any level, provide services to performing artists, work in a doctor鈥檚 office or support public safety and military personnel. You may also decide to continue your education, whether in a residency or a doctoral program.

For full admission to the Athletic Training Master鈥檚 Program, international students must submit English proficiency scores with a minimum of 6.0 IELTS-Academic or 79 iBT TOEFL. The Revised TOEFL Paper-delivered Test (RTPDT) scores of Reading: 20, Writing: 20, and Listening: 20 are also accepted by UCM for full admission.
