We offer the only family and consumer sciences education degree program in Oklahoma. You will participate in multiple field experiences and a student teaching internship. Upon degree completion, graduates are recommended to the Oklahoma State Department of Education for full teacher certification and are prepared to take certification exams in other states, if applicable. The high-quality reputation of our program makes graduates highly sought after for teaching positions in Oklahoma and beyond.

Primarily career options include: Family and consumer sciences teacher (6-12) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) adviser; Cooperative Extension Service county educator; 4-H educator.

Extensive Experience

Participate in field experiences in rural, suburban and urban schools and in county Extension offices and complete a 15-week, 600+ hour semester-long student teaching internship prior to graduation. These program requirements exceed state and national standards for family and consumer sciences education programs.

Mentoring

State and nationally recognized family and consumer sciences educator and leader Dr. Paula Tripp coordinates the program, teaches the pedagogy courses and provides personalized mentoring. We also offer extensive networking opportunities with professionals across the state and nation.
