Upon degree completion, graduates are recommended to the Oklahoma State Department of Education for full teacher certification and are prepared to take certification exams in other states, if applicable. Highlights

English

Be prepared to teach English and/or language arts in grades 6-12 by completing 48 credit hours of in-depth study in literature, composition and grammar while training in developmental psychology, learning theory and teaching methods.

Foreign Language

Be prepared to teach French, German or Spanish in grades PK-12 through in-depth study of your target language, literature and culture while learning theory, language teaching methods and meaningful use of instructional technology. We offer a variety of study abroad opportunities to develop linguistic and cultural skills to expand your global teaching perspective.

Mathematics

Be prepared to teach mathematics in grades 6-12 by completing in-depth study of mathematics concepts from geometry and calculus to linear algebra and combinatorics, in addition to adolescent development, learning theory, mathematics teaching methods and the meaningful use of instructional technology in the classroom.

Science

Be prepared to teach biology, chemistry, geology, physics and zoology in grades 6-12 by completing in-depth study of your target scientific discipline, in addition to adolescent development, learning theory, science training methods and the meaningful use of technology in the classroom.

Social Studies

Be prepared to teach social studies in grades 6-12 by completing 60 credit hours of in-depth study in history, government, geography, economics, psychology and sociology while training in adolescent development, learning theory and teaching methods.

OSUTeach

Pursue a degree in biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics or zoology while earning a secondary teaching certification (grades 6-12) without added time or cost in this collaborative program between the College of Education and Human Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences.
