Apa yang akan saya pelajari?

The Computational Science & Engineering (CSE) Certificate Program at the University of New Mexico is an interdisciplinary graduate program aimed at promoting advanced research in the computational sciences, including applications, algorithms, and architectures. It is open to students who already have a graduate degree in a mathematical, scientific or engineering discipline. Its purpose is to prepare students to effectively use high-performance computing within their disciplines.

The computational resources of the Center are available to all students enrolled in the program, as part of their course work and thesis/dissertation research.

CSE students will gain expertise in:

state-of-the-art numerical methods
high-performance computing architectures
software development tools for parallel and accelerator (GPU, Xeon Phi)-based architectures
application of advanced hardware and software to the analysis of problems in science and engineering

Students may earn a CSE certificate in conjunction with their master's or doctorate degree, or, if they already have a graduate degree, they may enroll in the program to obtain a separate CSE certificate.

Program specializations

The CSE can be completed in a number of different fields and areas of interest. Below are our most commonly requested specializations. Please note these specializations are not transcripted, your transcript will just reflect the certificate itself.

Computational Fluid Dynamics specialization
Data Science specialization

Admission to the CSE program is based on academic record and letters of recommendation. GRE scores may also be considered for students in a degree program. Prerequisites for admittance into the CSE program in addition to a bachelor鈥檚 degree are:

One year of general college physics or chemistry
One year of differential/integral calculus, and either a course in differential equations (e.g. MATH **316), a course in applied statistics (e.g. STAT 427), or a course in numerical methods (e.g. MATH **375)
A course in computer programming or equivalent experience using a programming language generally used for high-performance and/or data-intensive computing such as C, C++, FORTRAN, Java, or Python
For the certificate earned alongside a degree, admission is to the participating home department. For post-degree CSE students, a graduate degree in a mathematical, scientific or engineering discipline and degree-seeking admission at UNM is required.

Demonstrated proficiency in English:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum score 6.5; the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score 550 paper-based, or 79-80 Internet-based; the Duolingo English Test - minimum score 105; the University of Cambridge Examinations Certificate of Proficiency in English (CAPE) or Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - minimum score C; or the Pearson Test of English- Academic (PTE) - minimum score 53
