Academic excellence
Domestic and international female graduate students who are registered full-time in a Masters or Doctoral program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or Management Sciences, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering program in the Faculty of Engineering, wherein women are underrepresented as per framework from IAP and Dean's Council.
Underrepresented criteria are subject to annual review and may change as per framework from IAP and Dean's Council. In the event women are no longer underrepresented within the Faculty of Engineering, only the remaining eligibility will apply for that year.
Selection will be based on academic achievement (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent) and leadership experience (e.g. student teams, clubs, and volunteer activities).
The student鈥檚 faculty advisor should be affiliated with WatCar or other automotive research.
GM employees and their immediate family are not eligible for this award.
The award will also provide mentorship connections to GM Canada Engineers, invitations to noteworthy events hosted by General Motors of Canada Company, GM facility tours and potential access to GM vehicles for important life events.
A committee within the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Studies Office will evaluate the candidates and select recipients normally each Fall.
This funding is awarded in addition to the minimum funding the student may already be receiving.
Candidates who don鈥檛 currently hold external funding will be given preference.
